It's not like we don't contact trace in the US already. Believe me, if there is a case of active tuberculosis, local public health officials are going to be all over that. Even more prosaic, and delicate, contact tracing occurs all the time with sexually transmitted infections (though it is probably easier to get ahold of all someone's sexual partners, as long as they are being honest with you) than all a patient's "close contacts".
