It also didn’t help that the messaging was inconsistent. At first - not necessary. In fact, if I remember correctl6 the original WHO message was that masks don’t help. Then morphed into saying well, they might, so maybe you should. Now it’s the No 1 item.
You got people who already have a tendency to be skeptical and give that sort of messaging and it doesn’t help. Obviously the message from the administration on this doesn’t help either I’m not suggesting otherwise. But I have to believe that if from day one people were told to wear masks they would’ve been much less pushback and much higher compliance.
