As the USA cleared the 40,000 new case mark for the first time ever, 3 months into the pandemic, the White House is basically ignoring the virus now, pretending it doesn't exist. The POTUS is even claiming there will be fewer infections with fewer tests, when in fact there will be more infections with fewer tests because if you test, you at least know where the virus is and can TRY to mitigate it.

At the same time, the DOJ is arguing to the SCOTUS that the ACA should be overturned, so any American can be denied medical coverage for pre-existing conditions. We have 2.5 Million confirmed Covid-19 cases. The CDC director said he thinks there are 10x that many who have been infected. Let's take his word for it, and assume 25 Million Americans have been infected by Covid-19.

So we have the People's Justice Department arguing that the American people should have no right to have health insurance if they are known to have had Covid-19.  Given we have evidence that shows long-term damage can be caused by it, even in people who never presented symptoms, this doesn't seem ideal. Almost 10% of the population could be ineligible for health insurance coverage.

The Federal Government is doing all it can to "open the economy" and putting literally millions of people at risk for infection, while arguing in court that if they get infected, they should have no ability to have health insurance.  

Just let this sink in.

Purely political factual post. I am not asking it be taken down. I’m against that.  Just pointing out the obvious.

NOTHING in my post was a political statement.  It is all facts. The only part that was opinion is the "this doesn't seem ideal" comment I put in.

Your post most certainly is political because the conditions around the pandemic are absolutely political and we should put to bed this absurd notion that we can talk about Covid-19 in a non-political way. The American debacle with regard to Covid-19 cannot be explained away without addressing the realities of the abject failures and corruption of Federal and state govenrments. .

Politics maybe should stay out of discussions of football and softball, but not Covid-19. There are so many people in power who are willing to see Americans die so that they can hold onto power. That's just reality. Speak it loudly.

Party over country. Unfortunately . My last point on this. Then I’ll move on.  In 1986 Congress passed and Reagan signed the Tax Reform Act.   It passed 323-107. Senate Bill passed on a voice vote. Reconciliation and final bill passed 67-8 in the Senate and 282-95 in the House.

Move ahead to the two major legislative achievements of Obama and Trump. The ACA passed in the House with 1 GOP vote.  Straight party line in Senate. The Trump tax bill passed on a straight party line vote ( Bob Corker, I believe is the only Republican to vote against.)   No Dems voted for.

 My point is not to suggest that any of these bills are “good or bad”.  It’s to illustrate the increased partisanship.  And it seems that partisanship dips into almost every issue and aspect of our lives. Including COVID-19.

I find it to be very troubling.  But it’s unfortunately where we are. And it’s where we’ve been for a while.   If interested there is a terrific book written in 2013 on this :  The Righteous  Mind: Why Good People Cant talk about Religion and Politics.”  By Jonathan Haidt.
