Nah.  Call me naive, but there was no reason this had to be partisan.  I think we all could have done with a dose of “country comes together to fight scourge of the 21st century”.  In fact, I thought that’s where we were headed early on.  But here we are.

I too thought we would have a nice unifying theme, the small silver lining in this cloud.

Trump could have done that, as his tweets give him the bully pulpit. However, the media would have opposed him every step of the way. They've been promoting Trump the Demon for three years. Trump could have, and should have, risen above. But some rising was required. The NYT was never in good faith.
