Turns out she has had prior experiences with pandemics, got a master's degree in epidemiology, subscribes to ProMED-mail and read the first report on the novel coronavirus in China in December. Was playing pro volleyball in South Korea when the Covid-19 pandemic hit there, and wrote an interesting article about her experiences: What I saw in South Korea
