If MLB does start, I don’t see it finishing.
The NBA and NHL seem likely to start and could finish, though it seems the pandemic could get so bad that it becomes socially irresponsible for the NBA to finish in terms of taking away resources (tests in particular) from public health emergency. This is why the NHL was smart to choose re-starting in Canada over the hapless USA.
College football will not be played this Fall nor will any other college sports. The NFL will postpone its season because it will look terrible to start playing when we are adding 100k new infections a day and the medical system is overwhelmed all over the country.
These opinions are based on the trajectory I see and the state of play on July 7. I reserve the right to change my mind if there is a significant sea change in how governments and citizens behave over the next two weeks. At this point, I assume only another SIP can stop virus spread, which by definition will kill MLB, the NFL, and college sports.
