I’m sure you know the full story about this athlete. Here’s what I know. Denise told her what she needed on the SAT to get admitted. She didn’t achieve that score.
This player was recruited by Dunning. When Hambly came in he was more focused on recruiting front row players. He told the player (5’11”) Stanford was not the right team for her if she wanted to play front row which she very much did.
I personally would have recruited her without reservation for play in the back row but Hambly saw the team’s needs differently. In any event she has gone on to great success and probably ended up at the better fit for her.
