You are not correct 043 in asuming all 880 got admissions breaks.  When we turn down a 4.25 top 30 athlete in a sport that draws about 3,000 per game, tell that family about breaks.  Then you have the several hundred walk ons who wehn thru normal admissions.

Bobb's 100% correct.  The academic profile of varsity athletes (at least at the Ivies) doesn't differ significantly from the rest of the student body. Consequently, the Ivies aren't nearly as competitive as Stanford, which is much more serious about athletics.
