The Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, is offering individuals to stay and "work remotely from home" in Barbados for a year.  Interesting suggestion.  Not sure I'd want to be dependent on the Barbados medical system, and their "social distancing" is three feet, not six feet, but they've only had 98 infections and seven deaths so far.

My son is 28 years old, almost 29 and living in Santa Monica.  I've been trying to get him out of that county for a month now.  He actually worked in Hawaii for a few weeks.  If you have to work from home, why not an island paradise?

One of my residency co-workers is now the chief of staff at Wilcox Hospital in Kauai.  As a physician, she could work anywhere she wanted, and decided to take a hospitalist position at Wilcox out of residency.  Her husband had a permanently remote position (perhaps ironically, in the league office of a minor league hockey league), and they decided they wanted to work in paradise.

Under the current circumstances, if you have a chance to work from anywhere, why not work from someplace fun.  The downsides of working from Barbados that I can see are more along the lines of infrastructure and whether you can get adequate internet speed.  And the disruption from a hurricane, of course.  Hurricane Dorian walloped Barbados last year.
