I know it was mentioned somewhat as a joke, but I don't think a blanket prohibition on entry from the US makes sense.  There is ongoing community spread in Canada, so although an incoming traveler from the US is statistically more likely to have COVID-19 than a Canadian, it is not a situation where you can keep the virus out of Canada altogether.  Better to have good social distancing requirements and tracking and tracing than a travel ban, even from a place where the virus is widespread.
