I get to bring back three of my eight furloughed employees with an outside shot at two more some months down the road.  Three will be permanent layoffs.

Candidly, I think much of American business thinks of this time period as an ideal time to get rid of troublesome employees that, for whatever reason, couldn't be terminated in the normal course of business.  So I expect part of this contraction to be permanent.

Tell that to my brother.  He was the top salesman for his company in 2019, but the company has to bring back its employees in order of seniority, and he was last in the totem pole.
