OF, I am looking forward to Mick's answer, but I would point out that even if it were an "age-related" concept, once people of any age find out their supervisor will allow them to refuse legitimate work assignments, they will do so. While one might wish to blame the people who say no, I blame their supervisor who didn't strongly counsel them (and fire them if that didn't work). Obviously you received that counseling and decided to change jobs.
