What I don't get is why Trump isn't just touting dexamethasone. At the very least dexamethasone is proven to reduce mortality in severe COVID-19, by quite a fair bit. I have no idea whether oleander is effective or not, and if data comes along later that shows it's effective then I will be delighted that we have something else to improve outcomes of the disease. But there is no reason to tout oleander or anything else without evidence. Moreover, the President touting it is actually counterproductive, because now evaluating the science will all be wrapped up in the politics of it instead of the merits of the data to support or refute it.
