- Unemployment is going to skyrocket when PPP loan requirements expire.
- Millions will be evicted and be hungry.
- Covid will be ramping up again but with flu.
- Stock market bubble is going to burst (it always happens in October).
- We are going to see more white supremacist terrorism, protests, and rioting.
- Russian, Iranian, Chinese cyber warfare is going to ramp up to fever pitch.
- People will be fighting to vote with compromised systems.
- Families, friends and spouses are going to tear apart from each other.
Maybe an asteroid will hit us and put everyone out of their misery.
The wish-list for so many folks in these parts (well, perhaps without the asteroid).
Because that way things set up the best for November . . . when things will start looking better. I've never understood the "we need as much overall misery as possible to lay on Trump" - have a little compassion for your neighbor and a little faith in the swing state voters. (And, don't eff it up by too much sanctimony, "we know what's best for you," "you must think and act exactly as I do," etc. - nothing turns off Joe Voter more than that).
And on this latter point, the family was talking at dinner a few night ago about what a disaster 2020 has been, and that it can't get any worse. I immediately thought of something that would cap off the year's drain-circle, but I couldn't bring myself to utter it. But within a couple seconds, one son did. "Well, Trump could get . . ." Utter silence. And that pretty much cast a pall on dinner conversation for that night. . .
I don't share as bearish a view as OF, but I wonder why you assumed it was a wish list. Moreover, whatever you think of the House Democrats' proposal on its merits, I don't think you can accuse them of being miserly in an attempt to hurt the economy and tank Trump's re-election chances.
