100,000 known deaths from COVID-19 in the US.  Yes, an arbitrary round number that ends in zero doesn't really change the reality on the ground, but still it is sad to see us cross this death toll.

Re-upping this thread to mark crossing of another arbitrary round number now that Johns Hopkins' tracker reports 200,000 deaths.  It has taken us about four months to go from 100,000 to 200,000, so it would take a bad wave to hit 300,000 in November or December.  And yet, some of the early estimates looked at 240,000 deaths as catastrophic, and yet, we will soon be there.
