I might put a bowl down at the sidewalk with a "please take one" sign...and replace it every 15 minutes or so.

First,  does that ever work?  Even many years ago when i was still a trick or treater those bowls would be emptied in seconds... unless they had candy corn.

Second,  probably not a good idea to have a common point of contact for so many vectors. 

Third, if i misread the tone of the previous post please ignore my reply.  =)

Anyway, the CDC doesn't want people to trick or treat this Hallowe'en, and I don't blame them:
