Is Justin Wilcox the Berkeley coming of Jim Harbaugh? Maybe, but I'm not 100% convinced. During his 3-year lifetime head coaching career, Wilcox is 20-18 (10-17). The last two years his teams were 4-5 in the Pac-12.
Wilcox's 2018 recruiting class was ranked by 247sports #8 in the Pac-12, #42 nationally.
His 2019 recruiting class was ranked #8 in the Pac-12, #43 nationally.
His 2020 recruiting class was ranked #8, #39.
His 2021 recruiting class will be better, but we'll see in February how much better.
In his first three years at Stanford, Harbaugh--coming off of the Harris disaster--went 17-20 (13-14). The last two years his teams were 4-5 and 6-3 in the Pac-10.
Harbaugh's 2008 recruiting class was ranked by 247sports #9 in the Pac-10, #47 nationally.
His 2009 recruiting class was ranked #3, #21 nationally.
His 2010 recruiting class was ranked #6, #25.
The 2011 Harbaugh/Shaw recruiting class was ranked #4, #22.
In spite of the ash that I've seen on my windshield in the past few weeks, the Stanford football sky is not falling. Is it likely to fall? The data don't suggest it, at least not yet.

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
