I'm thrilled for KJ and hope he has a great year! I think Shaw was upfront with him - at best it would be a competition, with Mills having a slight edge to start based on where they were at the end of last season. KJ knew that the Pirate was going to run Air Raid and highlight his arm, Shawvita would likely be more of the same conservatism. He made his bet and I'm happy for him, but concerned for us given Mills injury history.
We open away at Oregon. Not going to be an easy first game with so many changes and departures. Maybe we get lucky with both teams still working through the cobwebs. Was hoping Little would rejoin and I was surprised by Adebo. The biggest question in my mind is Tavita and the play calling - yet again. We no longer have the TWU, smash mouth brand of football. We haven't been able to enforce our will and if most of us can sit on the rails and still call most of the plays, the D coordinators will be at the ready yet again. Player development, toughness and EUTM would go a long way in my mind. I'm hopeful, but not as optimistic as in past years. With the NFL starting to test positive more and more, we may not get to Nov 7, but if we do...just bring our damn axe home, please.
