I have thought for months it is completely stupid for any candidate to be doing traditional public campaigning this year, especially Biden. I get he did because if he didn't he would have been labeled a wuss. But now that the POTUS is hospitalized with Covid, Biden has an out. Nobody would label him a wuss now if he stops in person campaigning.
I'd just do Zoom calls the rest of the way and allow would be voters to ask questions to him. The calls can round up people from the states he wants to focus on, and he'll even be able to "cover" more states this way.
On the heels of the GOP pandemic damage, the POTUS being in hospital, and frankly after being horrified by the mask-less crowd in Athens, GA last night, it is stupid on steroids for any candidate for any office to be encouraging people to gather in large numbers. It looks to me we are going to be in the 60k-70k cases per day range in a few weeks nationally, so anything to encourage and set the example to distance as much as possible, is what would be elected officials should be doing.
