Wow a full hour-long TreeCast! Great content Troy some thoughts:
- What the Hell is taking Santa Clara County so long to approve Stanford's plans for practice? The state gave them the necessary waivers over a week ago. This is now putting Stanford at a competitive disadvantage.
- Spot on that Stanford MUST go 3-0 at home. That road schedule is BRUTAL
- I'd rather be getting Oregon on the road in November than December
- I'd rather be getting Washington on the road in November than December
- I'd rather be getting Big Game in December than November. Cal has a long tendency to fade in the second half of the season
- Big Game on the Friday after Thanksgiving would be crappy in any other year, but without fans in the stadium I'm ambivalent
- There may be depth on defense but there's not a lot of talent other than ILB & DE
- Lance Anderson put a LOT of spin on his very weak defense backfield
- Malik Antoine may be able to coach, but they need a safety who can TACKLE
- I'm optimistic about Kelly & McGill, but the other three positions are brobdingnagian question marks
I feel like we're at the same point we've been the last few years, with a LOT of holes to fill with unproven players - either inexperienced or underperforming. When the holes have been this many and this deep, Shaw hasn't shown the ability to develop enough talent to plug enough of them with quality players to be better than just above .500 in conference.
