South Dakota is not only leading the country in current Covid hospitalizations per capita at around 30 per 100k, I believe it would be one of the worst rates in the world if compared on a country basis (Czechia, in the news for a terrible outbreak, at around 30 also as of a few days ago). Yes; and thankfully, it is not a populous state. Thus, hospital capacity, to date, has treated those in need (as far as we can tell). When I see those stats, I don't automatically assume "disaster." Not sure why anyone would, honestly. But that could change . . . just as it could anywhere.
P.S. Anyone else read the death reporting differently than I did (i.e., it includes those who died with Covid, even if not primary cause of death)? We had that discussion here earlier.
