Muncy was at fault for a poor throw but if Smith’s eyes were on the ball then he catches it. Taylor bobbled the ball but his throw hit Muncy perfectly and so without Smith’s bobble they get the runner. I assume Smith called for the cut but who knows. I think Smith should have been charged. Then there was the on deck Ray who crossed the first base line before Azorenka touched home. Not quite a Merkle play but close.
