Samardzija's contract was the only one that we lost after this year, unless Posey decides not to come back at all.  We still have Belt, Cueto and Crawford for next year, and Longoria for the next two years.

Saw a web site citing the greatest career SF Giants by position.  Some are obvious, some not so much:

P - Mathewson (372-188, 2.12 ERA).  A position where Carl Hubbell and Juan Marichal are backups.  Yikes.
C - Posey
1B - Bill Terry (.899 OPS, .341 career BA).  I would have taken McCovey
2B - Frankie Frisch (.811 OPS), I would have taken Jeff Kent (.903 OPS)
SS - Art Fletcher.  Marginal (.732 OPS).  I would have taken either Crawford (.709 OPS, 3 GG, 2 AS) or Travis Jackson (HoF, great fielder, .770 OPS).  Probably Jackson.
3B - Matt Williams (.805 OPS, 4 GGs).  Jim Ray Hart slightly better hitter for SFG, nowhere near the fielder.
RF - Mel Ott
CF - Willie Mays
LF - Barry Bonds

Outfielders are no brainers.
