At least California is unlikely to try and kill its population.  El Paso's medical system is in a minor crisis right now, and the local judge issued stay-at-home orders.  The Texas state atty general tried to file for an injunction but was denied.  The Texas AG is expected to appeal.

Blows my mind that this all happened about a week ago or within the last week, but the news cycle of everything since then swallowed it up.
