I, for one, am glad that the federal government isn't driving this bus.

That's true.

I agree with the basic point; however, the feds were never going to "drive the bus" on the pandemic.  For better or worse - meaning there will be lots of variances in formal mandates (or even guidelines) - that is done at county/state level.
