Not an accident. I chose it to specifically debunk the idea that at that time the press only reported the "feel good company line". Tet is an example of the press misreporting something as "gloom and doom", partly in response to what they regarded as being misled by MACV and similar organizations. The press "bias" was caused at least in part by government creating an adversarial relationship with the press and the inability of the press to rise above their bias, search out, and report the "truth". Kind of like today, IMHO.
