It is a bit of missing the forest for the trees (no reference to Stanford intended). We have a runaway outbreak, with record new cases pretty much everywhere in the country, record hospitalizations (now taking up almost 1 in 10 of all staffed hospital beds in the country) and breaking 2000 deaths yesterday, the most since early May. Sure, CFB can probably stumble along with maybe 1/4 of games being cancelled at any time, but in the bigger picture it is CFB covering their ears and shouting "lalalala I can't hear you", pretending things aren't bad and getting worse. Remember, what we are seeing now is a reflection of infections that happened about a week ago; the hospitalizations are a results of infections that happened about two weeks ago, and the people dying got infected three weeks ago, so things are going to get worse before they get better.
Yes, the risk for football players is low, and AD's need money, but we are basically trying to pretend there is no pandemic going on. Seriously, what the hell are we even doing?
