A big question now is what should Stanford do? It can be argued that if you are in an area where contact sports are prohibited, just shut it down. Any attempt to bypass the ban by practicing in San Mateo County (which went purple today) is arguably not in the spirit of the SCC ban. OTOH, possibly the SCC ban is a bit too aggressive and evading it isn't so bad. The next question is that if you want to keep playing, do you play Oregon State in Oregon? You won't be able to play it at Stanford.

As much as I would like to see Stanford play football, and as much as I doubt doing so contributes measurably to the spread of COVID-19, I think you have to shut it down for the year. Stanford is part of the community and has to abide by the regulations, even though it sucks for the athletes.

How bout some evidence that anything involved with Stanford athletics, The 49ers , SJS sports, The Sharks, The SJ soccer team  has been in any way a contributor to the spread of Covid?   My guess is it’s just the opposite. That by these athletes being largely separated into their own bubbles staying or trying to stay away from Covid in order to play the games and all of the testing and protocals that goes into what has to happen for these games to go on that the Covid level is lower amongst this group that in the population  in general. And certainly no supersreaders.
