Well, the three week cancellation of contact sports is the worst nightmare for this "race." I'm not venturing into the territory of whether the shutdown was right or wrong. This cancellation will stop the next 7 WBB games, leaving our next possible game Jan 1 at Arizona.
UConn has 4 games scheduled during that stretch. If Geno wins them all--and why wouldn't he--he and Tara will be exactly tied at 1095 by the end of this calendar year, each of them needing 4 wins to surpass Pat.
Then looking into next year, Stanford's schedule (if not altered) would be:
1) @ Arizona Jan 1
2) @ ASU Jan 3
3) Oregon Jan 8
4) Oregon State Jan 10
Probably the toughest part of our season schedule.
UConn has an incomplete schedule listed in the new year. Who knows who they will be playing. All that shows so far is

My guess is that they will fill in their normal patsies, that UConn will play at least once during the first week of January before Baylor, and twice in the second week of January, and once in the third week before going to Tennessee. It is therefore likely, depending on how UConn does against Baylor, that Geno will pass Pat before Jan 14 or so.
Of course everything is up in the air. New games will be scheduled and additional games will be cancelled. It is almost random at this point. But however you look at it, Tara just lost her advantage over Geno in the race to the Summitt.
But to keep this in perspective, I am sure that Tara at doesn't care about the "race." She is probably just mourning for her team, which has so much promise and so desperately wants to play. And yet the disappointment of not playing is minor compared with the projected 400k+ deaths and millions of permanently damaged human beings before the vaccines finally put an end to this scourge.
But I will count this as one more depressing side effect of this annus horribilis.
