We can keep debating whether Cody and other county health departments are overstepping her bounds, but it is worth noting that Newsome is considering issuing a new stay at home order.

It is very difficult to grasp how quickly things can spiral out of control, which is further complicated by the fact that there is really a delay between exposure and positive test (and a further delay to hospitalization or death). As a consequence, it is easy to look out the window now and say things in Santa Clara (or San Mateo county, where I live) don't seem too bad, why are we cancelling contact sports, when perhaps the question ought to be "given how things will be in a couple weeks, why is this even a point of discussion"?
