It was also a good couple of years before I could listen to the song "Sweet Home Alabama" without snapping. Made some parties tricky.
I watched from a hotel in Alabama after my friend's wedding. He called me from his getaway car so that his wife could yell her obnoxious rallying cry over the phone. I don't know why I'm still friends with him.
Was in Vegas, watching from a casino. Depressed as hell afterward (and a bit pissed), especially knowing that a weak Syracuse team was on deck ('Bama handled them easily that year). Fortunately, lots of "free" drinks at the tables helped ease the pain . . .
