Australia responded as drastically as it did to the SECOND wave, after having experienced its own resurgence. The US is responding (more belatedly that it should, to be sure) to our second wave.
How normal is normal, I am not sure, because the Australian Open has been postponed three weeks due to restrictions and quarantine.
Finally, Australia is in the Southern hemisphere. It's summer there.
I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.
