Worst case, the conference just changes the eligibility rules. No one would object in this season without rules.
Plus, they're likely one of the Top 5 teams in the country, so if you're going to have a CFP, then you might as well see if the best teams are available to play (or at least not DQ one of them from attempting to qualify).
