Did this have significant bearing on Dunning's retirement? :(
I think the suit intends to drive home the point that volleyball coaches need to know that their very powerful athletes are hitting the ball at high speeds with significant momentum. No longer can a volleyball impact a player's head and not raise a flag in a coach's head. Until this gets national attention, you'll continue to have numerous instances of high school player head trauma being swept under the rug as players and parents never even consider the effect of ball impacts on players' brains.
If the coaching staff did not act in loco parentis as is their traditional responsibility, then...I don't know what to say. Soccer, volleyball, football...all of these sports' coaches need to take brain injury seriously. The courage drill was a sign that such concerns weren't terribly significant.
