I gotta say I was surprised by this decision. I thought Mills was headed for a pretty great situation. Even with Sarell, Fehoko ans Dalman departing, the remaining situation seemed pretty ideal to me — lots of great linemen returning, lots of amazing receivers returning, and multiple good running backs who may come back next year even better. And a team that ended as the hottest team in its conference with 4 consecutive road wins. So it seemed to me a great way to improve one’s national visibility. But it will be someone else’s opportunity now.
I do think Mills has an unbelievable arm. I don’t see him starting in the NFL next year and I think he still had a lot of other areas to grow in, but hopefully the right team sees an opportunity to invest in him. I think the potential is there for him to be a great NFL quarterback someday and it’d be thrilling to see that happen.
