The LA Times story on Scott's departure said that the presidents should focus on someone with athletic director experience who can revive the football fortunes of the conference rather than someone with more of a media background.
I don't know if it is possible to revive the football fortunes of the conference. But there is one person out there with experience turning around a football program who has been an AD and who understands conference administration - Bob Bowlsby. However he is 69 years old and may be at his last job before retirement.
But if I was advising the search committee, I would suggest that they interview Bowlsby to get insight into the qualities they should be looking for.
