Thanks, Bob. I did not realize that. That does make things different. [And it is inconsistent with the Pac12 Network crawl report stating that this was a school decision by UCLA. But you are a much more reliable source of information than the Pac12 Network. And I absolutely mean that.]
So UW presumably had seven scholarship players left when we played them? I still say "good on them" for not trying to find "injuries" for a few more. IIRC, they had "practice players" on the court to play one of the best teams in the country.
And I now believe even more strongly that this is a bad rule. One of the things I enjoy about college sports is when some team member who almost never gets to play is in the spotlight all of a sudden. Sometimes it makes for a very special moment.
I realize that the response by those defending the rule will be "COVID makes everything different." That's a legitimate view, but I beg to differ.
