I think the issue with Lacie's free throw shooting is the result of having to go on the road and not getting much practice time. The Hulls and many other shooters are often gym rats who are in the gym everyday putting a lot of shots. We haven't been able to do that this year until the last week or so. It's been a big worry for me. That same problem has impacted our performance against zone defenses. It takes time and practice in practice to work through the options and responses to the point where they are natural. We have done fine against less talented teams playing zone but are not yet completely up to the task against longer, quicker teams. I hope and think that will improve over the end of the season. We are talented and aren't bothered much by teams playing full court press defenses on us anymore despite the lack of practice. I hope we conquer the zone problems more fully by tournament time.
It was definitely tough to watch the lead disappear but I think Oregon is really good and a tough match up for us because we can't just shut down their few great players, they have options. Great to see our team respond to losing the lead and stepping up to get the road win. I was super worried about this game. Don't forget that Oregon got to spend the weekend resting and prepping for playing us while we had to play a really competitive game against OSU. Given the circumstances, this was a great win. Let's head back home, take care of the Arizona schools, and Beat Cal!
Cheers,

Funniest moment of the game was late in the 3rd when Anna Wilson was fouled by Sabaly on an inbounds play but they called a jump ball or some ridiculous thing. I forgot that I was on the phone with my Mom and yelled "F you!" at the refs. My wife was saying something else to my Mom, who was on speaker, at the time and I think she missed it or just chose to ignore it because it didn't make any sense in our conversation. Wilson was fouled there without a doubt but the team was able to overcome all that and get the win. That skill will be needed in the tournament.
