I would ask everyone here who has seen the other conference teams play, where do YOU think Stanford ranks among the talent levels in the P12? I think "pundits" over-weight recruiting stars.

For me, "talent" covers basketball fundamentals like shooting and taking care of the ball. Stanford is last in the conference in 3 point shooting. Last in % and last in total made per game. Offensive success in college ball nowadays is dependent on making 3 pointers. When you have 3 or 4 guys on the court who are threats to make 3s, it opens things up for other options too. As the numbers show, this is not a strength of the team. Now Stanford is shooting an incredible 54% on 2 pointers which is fantastic and a reason that they have had some success this year. But who are the top 3 point shooting teams in the conference? Arizona, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Colorado - all of the top 4 teams in the standings! I think there is a correlation here.

We also see Stanford dead last in the conference in turnovers.

This year's team has strengths not seen last year, especially their ability to attack the basket. I am a big fan of the toughness and resiliency they have shown. But their talent level is not a cut above previous seasons under Haase or Dawkins from what I have seen.
