Maybe the strategy was to prevent Onyenwere from driving to the hoop. The midrange stepback isn't easy. Credit to her for hitting them, as well as some other even more difficult shots.

+1. Seeing complaints that we left Onyenwere open to take step back and step aside jumpers is funny because if you have to leave someone open, those are about as low efficiency shots at they come, and very little risk of giving a shooting foul on d. The fact that Onyenwere hit them is a testament to how great she has become. She's really developing her shooting guard repertoire for the pro game.

Have loved what we've seen from Ki. I predicted it back when they first announced the San Antonio site: she will be a woman on a mission for the rest of the season because the championship game will be in her hometown. 

Missy was doing her Missy things. When she's a ref, she makes the game about the reffing. It's so predictable and frustrating, although I don't think it always cuts fully against us. (it mostly did this game, especially in the third and w/ that ludicrous intentional on brink). 

What I love so much about this team versus those of the past half decade is the motion on offense - they are constantly cutting or looking to take it to the rim - even Jump now! So, so much less "pass around the perimeter and hope someone gets open." Our D has generally been stellar the past few years but the team offense is smoother than I can ever remember. The triangle was brutally effective, but this is much more fun to watch. 

Hats off to our ladies - enjoy the next week off and then go hook 'em in Texas!
