Should have clarified that it is triples as a pitcher.  Not triples by guys who pitched.

From 1914 through 1917, when he was exclusively a pitcher, Ruth had seven triples.

Who has more triples; lightning-quick career stolen base and runs leader by a mile Rickey Henderson in his 10,961 at-bats, or fat and slow Babe Ruth in 8,399 at-bats?

Ruth was an amazing athlete.  You don’t the reach the level of success he achieved by being “fat and slow”.

As has been mentioned before, triples are a product of field size more than anything else.  The record holders are mostly early vintage players. Heck, even Triples Alley at Oracle Park has been reduced in size.....
