I took a look at SFG by fielding WAR during the 1960s. I would extend that to include their second basemen as well. Here's the fielding WAR ranking from 10 MLB teams by SS and 2B in each year. Looks like it was particularly true from 1963-1966:

61 5th, 7th (of 8)
62 2nd, 4th (of 8)
63 9th, 7th
64 6th, 9th
65 10th, 7th

67 4th, 4th
