Cool. Fresno State is actually a step up in competition level. Usually replacement teams are a lower level.
Also, according to the NCAA, Stanford's RPI ranking is 69. This is due to the weak schedule to this point:
Santa Clara, 7-13, 106 RPI
San Francisco, 5-14, 159 RPI
UC Irvine, 10-7, 52 RPI
Utah, 4-11, 202 RPI
Fresno State is 7-8, 134 RPI.
Future opponents RPI:
Oregon 9
Oregon State 23
Arizona 25
ASU 28
WSU 51
UCLA 58
Sac State 60
USC 106
Cal 129
Pacific 150
UW 203

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
