I mean, on the one hand, it is awesome.  On the other hand, this is not a trend I think Stanford wants to be a part of, and I think there is probably a straight line between facilities like this being the price of entry into elite Div I athletics and a backlash against making these expenditures at Stanford.  The line "we are not Nebraska" may have been somewhat silly at the time, but was probably prescient.  We are not Oregon, and I don't think we should be.

I don't want Stanford to go there, but the cries of poverty leading to the cutting of the least expensive to conduct sports is ridiculous.
