FWIW - I believe the University will cut these sports even if major donors threaten to stop supporting Stanford for some period of time.   I am confident the BoT would have direct discussions with those types of individuals to help them understand the complete cost benefit analysis.

You could be correct. Unfortunately it sounds a bit like a visit from Sal and Vito, not the BoT. If there are good reasons to make this change there is no reason they shouldn't be fully public. If the BoT things the reasons shouldn't be public, they are not good reasons. Period.
