I understand that field hockey has been around for much longer than 1975. Before Title 9, they played Cal, San Jose State, Davis, UOP, etc. as club teams maybe back as far as the 40's. It's probably the most expensive sport being cut because of # of players and travel expense...and maybe also the oldest.
