Not sure I understand why folks are so sad or disappointed in something that was so obviously inevitable, at least from the athletic perspective.  In some sports -- let's say Women's Volleyball, for example -- it makes total sense, if the opportunity arises, to grad transfer from UCLA to Stanford if you want a shot at a National Championship.  Indeed, it just happened last season.

In men's basketball, however, who in their right mind would choose a program that is making a habit of crashing and burning at the end of every season, and hasn't even been to NCAA postseason since firing its prior coach, over a program that made it to the Final Four this year [even if they did manage to lose to that other program]?

Well, I think we were looking at it from an academic perspective, and hoping he would do the same.
