When we saw the question, our reaction was, well, that's easy. They will all get it! Amazing that none did, and all had the same wrong answer. But at least there is a University named after Young, so maybe it wasn't totally Huh?? where that that come from??

One thing you have to remember:  All three contestants were non-Californians (from Stoneham, MA; Baldwin, NY; and Seattle.)  Those of us who are native Californians remember the history of the Golden Spike from fourth grade.
