The University of California system has decided to do away with the SAT or ACT permanently.  Even if a student voluntarily sends test scores they won't be considered for admissions.

The UC system really had no choice. They had decided to not require standardized tests, but would consider them if submitted voluntarily by the applicants. I think this was for the 2022 and 2023 cohorts. But the lawsuit made it nigh impossible, so the basic effect was to speed up the planned action to eventually disallow the SAT/ACT.

Also, not mentioned by the article: the plan all along for UC has been to come up with its own test, but I have no idea if that's feasible. I won't say any more to avoid the semblance of politicization, except that admissions for athletics--and special action admits in general--will be really complicated until we settle on a new normal for the many schools that are nixing the current standardized tests. I would be really curious to see how Stanford handles admissions for athletes in the near future. Will AP test scores become the new admissions tests, at least in part? I have no idea, but I wish I could talk to someone who does.
