Stanford is predicted to beat Oregon State today and achieve the #8 RPI position. If Fairfield isn't being considered as earmarked to host a Super Regional, then it would seem the odds are Stanford will get a Top 8 seed and be in Super Regional hosting position.
A couple weeks ago it seemed Stanford was just shooting to be a Regional host. Now that is a certainty and a top 8 seed seems most likely.
General question about the NCAA tournament: If a top 8 seed loses its Regional, who hosts the Super Regional? Is it still held at the school selected to host it, even if it doesn't win its Regional?
IIRC, the highest remaining seed in the group of eight teams associated with the Super Regional gets to host. Which is always or almost always the host of the other Regional. I wonder if there's ever been an instance where both regional hosts failed to win.
